Rear brake shoe disassembly

 1. Use a power tool to remove the tire from the car.

 2. Remove the slide pin below.

3. Lift the caliper body with a rope and then remove the brake shoe, brake pad cage, gasket and gasket cover on the torsion arm.

For types that do not require the removal of the disc brake caliper, simply remove the mounting bolts on the bottom of the disc brake caliper, then rotate the disc brake caliper upwards and hold the disc brake caliper with a cord. The brake shoe can be removed by hanging down.

Rear brake shoe installation

1. Install the inner and inner shim covers onto the inner  rear brake shoe and the outer shim onto the outer brake shoe.

2. Install the  rear brake shoe retainer and brake shoe onto the torsion arm.

3. Hold the piston while installing the  rear brake shoe and then install the cylinder onto the bearing arm.

4. Install the slide pin below and tighten.

5. Use the wheel nut to secure the brake disc and step on the brake pedal until there is a reaction.

6. Check the rotational resistance of the front disc brake.

7. Install the wheels.

Brake shoe replacement precautions

1, before the film, the brake shoes should be cleaned and inspected. If the rivet holes on the brake shoes are deformed due to wear, they should be repaired and re-punched. The raised portion of the surface of the shoe should be polished.

2, to avoid the brake shoe in the use of breakage and good heat dissipation performance, the riveting should ensure that the friction plate and the shoe iron tightly, the brake shoe should have the same curvature as the shoe. When riveting, use a hand vise to fasten the brake shoe and the shoe together, and rive the two sides from the middle.

3. After the good, the brake friction plates should be chamfered on both sides, and the rivets should not be skewed or loosened. The clearance between the brake lining and the shoe is 0.12 mm maximum, preferably without gaps.

4, the surface of the  rear brake shoe should be kept clean and flat, not rough, so as not to become a powder after the rough protruding part is ground.

5, the brake linings on a car are preferably produced by the same factory. If not, at least the brake linings on the two wheel brakes on the same axle should be guaranteed to be produced by the same factory. It is guaranteed to have the same friction coefficient and good braking efficiency to avoid the occurrence of brake deviation.

After the  rear brake shoe wears, or because the surface of the wear friction plate is less than 0.5mm from the rivet head, or the surface of the friction plate is stained with oil, ablation and hardening occur, and the minimum thickness of the brake friction plate is less than 6mm. A new brake lining should be replaced.

Brake linings have different lifespans depending on the position of use. Generally, the front brake linings have a service life of 30,000 km, and the rear brake linings have a long life of 120,000 km. Of course, this is not certain, depending on the usage, remind everyone that there is a bottom in mind, pay attention to check.
