Automotive brake lining replacement knowledge
Generally, in the case of normal driving, the life of the front brake linings is 30,000-50,000 km, and the service life of the rear brake linings is 60-80,000 km. However, it depends on the specific conditions of the vehicle weight, the model, and the driving habits of the owner. Generally, the driving on the mountain road is shorter than that on the flat road, and the brake linings of the truck are shorter than the life of the trolley. The brake linings of cars that have been driving on urban roads for a long time are longer than those on highways. In fact, this does not absolutely determine the life of the brake linings. Only check them frequently to see how they wear. .
The replacement of the brake linings is divided into different situations. The common basis is as follows. First, when the thickness of the brake lining is less than the minimum service scale specified by the vehicle manufacturer, it needs to be replaced, that is, when the wear indicator on the brake lining contacts the brake disk. Second, it needs to be replaced when the brake linings are contaminated with oil or grease. Finally, it needs to be replaced when the brake linings are abnormally worn or tapered. Generally, we need to replace the brake lining on the brake caliper when it has a thickness of about 5mm. The minimum thickness of the brake linings is determined by many factors, including the brake system itself, the design stroke of the brake caliper or cylinder piston, the adjuster clearance, and the brake pedal clearance.
When to change the brake fluid of the car
The brake system of the car is not only the brake linings and brake discs, but also other auxiliary components such as brake fluid and brake calipers. The brake fluid of the car has the characteristics of water absorption. If it is used for a long time without replacement, it will cause the boiling point of the brake oil to decrease and corrode the brake system, which will bring safety hazard to the driving.
Since the brake oil absorbs water, its boiling point will decrease, which will easily cause insufficient brake pressure and affect the braking effect. Generally, it needs to be inspected every 20,000 km. If there is any brake lag or lightness, it is ready to be replaced. Our common classifications are DOT3, DOT4, and DOT5. Different models use different products, so don't blindly choose. The brake oil model DOT3 is generally suitable for miniature, medium and low-end cars. DOT4 is suitable for medium and high-end models. Of course, there is no problem in choosing a DOT4 for a small, medium and low-end car. DOT5 is mainly used in military and motor sports, and is used less in civilian applications.
Ceramic brake lining advantage
The brake linings of the car are rubbed against the brake disc to slow down the vehicle. When the friction occurs, the surface of the brake lining generates a high temperature. At this high temperature, the surface temperature of the brake lining rises sharply, which may melt the surface material or even generate an air cushion, which may cause a sudden decrease in the braking performance after the continuous braking or a complete loss of the brake.
Automotive ceramic formula brake linings are a type of brake linings that have been developed from cermets. When the brake lining is braked at a high speed, a similar reaction occurs in the cermet sintering on the surface of the brake lining, so that the brake lining still has good stability at high temperature and ensures the braking effect. Ceramic formulas include mineral fibers, aramid fibers and ceramic fibers (because steel fibers are corroded, producing noise and dust, so they cannot meet the requirements of ceramic formulations). These materials are lighter than other brake linings, but they are relatively light. The price will be higher. Ceramic brake linings are cleaner and quieter, and provide excellent braking performance without abrading the pair.
