Hawk brake pad replacement timing
In the brake device of a car, the friction between the hawk brake pad and the brake disc is mainly relied on. Automotive hawk brake pads are an important safety component in automotive brake systems. Car hawk brake pads are wearing parts and need to be replaced after a certain period of time or mileage. Therefore, we need to understand the timing of the replacement of the brake pads, and do not affect the normal use of the vehicle.
In normal use, when the difference in thickness between the hawk brake pads on the fixed brake caliper reaches 1.5 mm, the difference between the thickness of the brake pads on the floating caliper reaches 3.0 mm. However, it is impossible to accurately determine whether the brake pad is worn or not by simple external observation. It is best to use a ruler to measure the thinnest part of the brake pad to see if it is within the allowable range. If you encounter some special circumstances, such as the brake pad is contaminated by oil or grease, and there are foreign objects in the brake pad, you need to replace the brake pad immediately, because the braking ability of the brake pad will be greatly reduced, and the brake safety will not be possible. Guarantee.
Brake deviation problem
The deviation and slip of the car are an important cause in traffic accidents. The main reason for the deviation of the car is that the left and right wheels of the car, especially the brake force of the steering wheel, are not equal. After a lot of tests, it can be found that if the front wheel has no braking force when the car is braking, the rear wheel has enough braking force. When the vehicle speed is higher than 25km/h, the rear axle will have side slip and turn around. And no matter which direction the car is driving, the rear axle of the car always slides down the lateral direction when braking.
When the rear wheel of the car has no braking force and the front wheel has sufficient braking force, even if the vehicle speed reaches 65km/h, the longitudinal axis of the car is not large, showing good stability. When the starting speed is less than 48km/h, even if the rear wheel is locked before the front wheel and the tow is more than 0.5s, the car will not have dangerous side slip. Only when the starting speed exceeds 48km/h, the rear axle The side slip will undergo a qualitative change and become a dangerous side slip.
If the rear wheel is locked and dragged a certain time ahead of the front wheel, and the vehicle speed exceeds a certain specified value, the rear axle will slip, sharply rotate, or even completely turn around under the action of slight lateral force. The smoother the ground, the longer the braking distance and braking time, the more intense the rear axle side.
Method for changing the mileage of hawk brake pads to zero
The way the vehicle replaces the brake pads is roughly the same, but some vehicles are equipped with brake pad alarm lines. When the brake pads of the vehicle wear out to a certain extent, the brake pad replacement indicator lights up. At this time, the brake pads need to be replaced. After the brake pads are replaced, some of the warning lights on the instrument panel do not disappear. It performs a zeroing operation.
Taking the old BMW 7 Series as an example, we first insert the ignition key, do not step on the brake pedal, press the START/STOPENGINE button on the left side of the ignition key. Then press and hold the zero button on the upper left of the meter, release it after about 7~8s, and the LCD display on the upper left of the meter will display: RETURN.
Next press the zero button, select R.BRAKE40TKM, then press and hold the zero button until “RETURNRESETR.BRAKE” is displayed on the upper right area of the meter. Press the zero button again.
Select “RESETR.BRAKE” and press and hold the zero button again and hold it until the display shows R.BRAKERESETOK, and the brake alarm light return to zero is completed. Finally, when it is started again, the meter will instantly display “40,000km after-sales service”. This completes all operations.
